   Introducing CSP Connections

Thank you for taking the time to read this inaugural edition of the Computer Service Partners Newsletter.  The information technology industry has experienced many changes over the past decade.  I am proud that CSP has been able to grow by providing our customers superior customer service.  When I started CSP in 1995, our focus was maintaining computer hardware for a small number of customers.  Since then, we have grown from four people into a company of over fifty who provide solutions in some of the most sophisticated technologies being deployed by organizations today.  These include IP telephony, storage solutions, wireless communications, mobility solutions, network security, remote network monitoring, and web development.

Our steady growth has allowed CSP to serve the many IT needs of organizations throughout North and South Carolina.  Furthermore, with our partner, the Ingram Micro Service Network, we serve clients throughout North America.  We have watched and listened carefully to our customers in order to keep pace with the changing dynamics of both technology and business.  Information-on-demand, the mobile workforce, security breaches and viruses—to name a few, has changed the way organizations use and manage technology.  Throughout this technology evolution, we have worked to greatly improve our expertise, and implement systems to meet the needs of our customers.  We are committed to continued growth, ever mindful of helping our customers optimize their technology investments.

I hope you find this newsletter informative.  Each month we will provide you with information that highlights an important information topic and solution.  This month’s topic is IP Telephony.  You have my commitment that we will work each month to provide information that will help you improve your business by more effectively leveraging technology.  I ask that you write to me with any comments or suggestions at briddick@cspinc.com.

On behalf of the entire Computer Service Partners team, I thank you for your business.

   Solution Spotlight: IP Telephony

Traditional phone systems may soon be a thing of the past.  Today, businesses understand the need to replace aging phone systems with IP-based solutions that reduce the total cost of ownership and leverage existing network infrastructures.  IP Telephony enables a surprising breadth of applications that can significantly enhance the productivity of your business, and deliver cost savings.  IP-based phone system sales now exceed the sales of traditional PBX phone systems.

The primary benefits of IP Telephony include: reduced hardware, software, and maintenance costs; reduced network management costs; reduced recurring carrier expenses; and increased productivity for users and for IT staff.  Each of these areas is discussed briefly below.

Increased User and IT Productivity—these include anytime, anywhere access to telephony features for mobile workers; more efficient, easier-to-use features for call handling; unified messaging (integration of voice mail with your email); ability to integrate voice communications with core business applications; improved customer satisfaction from better call handling and responsiveness; and, fewer staff requirements.

Improved Line Usage—by making more efficient use of communications lines, a converged network also cuts the recurring expenses of service provider charges for traditional voice services.  Cisco CallManager and Cisco Unity can help network managers make the most efficient use of network resources while meeting local communications requirements.

Reduced Network Management Costs—these derive from having a single network to manage and the ease of handling tasks such as moves, adds and changes.

Reduced Hardware, Software, and Maintenance Costs—the convergence of voice, data and even video over a single network can yield costs savings in the areas of network consolidation, centralized call processing, desktop wiring, system connection expenses, and system maintenance and upgrade fees.

Cost saving and productivity advantages for IP Telephony systems are almost too numerous to list.  Unified messaging allows you to integrate voice mails with your email system.  A call center configuration will allow you to centralize call management for multiple offices, to improve customer service and reduce staff.  Additional applications can work with your IP phones for many administration functions including time clock,  class attendance, and sending voice and text messages to every phone in the company.  You can also consolidate communications by using your IP Telephony system to handle video calls.  Call tracking, analysis, and documentation allows you to better understand and refine telephone usage in your business.

For more information, please contact Computer Service Partners for a no-obligation consultation on how IP Telephony might specifically benefit your organization.
